It was love at first sight!

Hello! My name is Bailey Acenas; I’m a Border Collie / Australian Shepherd Mix. I’m 3 months and 30 days old today! I weigh 14 lbs.

Night after night of browsing the web and visiting dozens of pet shelters from San Francisco to Stockton, to find their very first family dog, my Mommy and Daddy finally found me today! It was love at first sight.

Recap of today’s events; my Mommy and Daddy spent most of their day driving from one shelter to another in San Joaquin County in search for a puppy. At Three O’clock in the afternoon, after many disappointing visits to several shelters and pet adoption locations (6 in total), they decided to head back home to Dublin. On their way home, my Mommy decided that she would call the local pet store to see if they were having an adoption event and sure enough they were. The only problem was the event was to end at four o’clock in the afternoon. My mommy and daddy were stuck in a traffic jam on I-580 west and it was five minutes to four o’clock. My mommy contacted the pet shop letting them know that they were only a few exits away and pleaded that they just keep the event open for another ten minutes until they got there. Well, after a long day of searching and meeting so many different dogs from all over the Bay Area, there I was in the front of the store. Along with my two other siblings, I was passed-out after a three hour commute from a 20 acre farm, dedicated for Border Collie rescues, in Fresno.

For the first few hours, I didn't even have a name--I was beginning to think they didn't like me. Then they started calling me Bailey and I new they really did like me. After spending the rest of the afternoon with my new family, they decided to take me into my new home. Then the HORROR! My mommy brought me into a bright room where rain comes from nowhere! I was shaking and tried my hardest to get out of there but could only watch helplessly as my daddy just laughed and did nothing to help me. After that, they seemed even more excited to have me, and that got me even more excited, so I just jumped and ran and showed them what I'm all about!

To top it all off, they even got me the same food I was used to eating at the shelter, so I ate so much to show them what I got, and I did. But I guess they didn't like it because I guess they were expecting it not to be so "runny". So at my next meal, I had new food, and it was even better than before, and this time when I dropped my deuce, it was nice and solid...it even put a smile on their faces.
